35 km away from Batumi, in the village of Chkhutuneti in the Machakhela gorge, there is a historical-ethnographic museum, which has been functioning since June 9, 1984. Zurab Nagervadze, a resident of the village of Zeda Chkhutuneti, is the initiator and founder of the opening of the museum. The museum is located in the three-storey building of the former mosque. It presents a number of exhibits characteristic of the valley and ethnographic items depicting life. Tourists pay special attention to the wood-carved ornament of the XVIII century, which retains its colors despite the passage of many years.
