Description

Beghleti Mosque is one of the oldest in Adjara, but its first building burned down. The mosque was rebuilt in the 19th century, but for a long time, until 1920-21, it was a simple wooden building, then Laz masters were invited and the building was decorated with ornaments and paintings. The foundation of the mosque is made of stone, and the building itself is made of oak. Its dimensions are 8.6X15.5. The minaret has 83 steps and is 32 meters high. Iskender Tavartkiladze, Hussein Kakhadze, Ilia Shavadze and others worked in this mosque.
