Petra Fortress is the historical-archaeological complex in Tsikhisdziri, built in the 6th century by order of Emperor Justinian. The fortress-city was distinguished by its unique military strategic and trade-economic location. The road that connected the eastern Black Sea coast with the central regions of Georgia, Byzantium, Armenia and Persia passed through the territory of Petra.
The castle is located 17 kilometers from Batumi, on the central road, in the village of Tsikhisdziri.
